#BeActive

Movement often starts with an invitation

Registration for European Week of Sport has started

Event registration for the European Week of Sport 2026 is now open. Sports clubs, schools, companies, fitness studios, municipalities and many other organisations are invited to become part of #BeActive and inspire people in their local communities to get moving.

The European Week of Sport is an initiative of the European Commission and takes place every year from 23 till 30 September in countries across Europe. Under the motto #BeActive, countless local activities come together to form a shared movement for more physical activity in everyday life.

#BeActive is driven by people who make movement possible locally – in an open, low-threshold and welcoming way. And it does not always have to be a major sports event: often, an invitation to join in is enough. Whether it is an open training session at a sports club, an active break at work, a shared activity at school or a taster session in a public space – movement can happen anywhere and be integrated into many different settings.

The European Week of Sport highlights what is already happening in many places through commitment, passion and creativity.

At the same time, it offers organisations the opportunity to reach new people, make their activities more visible and become part of a Europe-wide movement.

All registered activities will appear on the nationwide German #BeActive map and become part of the European Week of Sport 2026.

In Germany, the campaign has been coordinated by the German Gymnastics Federation (DTB) since 2016 and supported at federal level from the very beginning. Since 2026, the campaign has been supported by the Federal Chancellery.
